These are approximate and move with substrate, contents density and delivery method. A heavily furnished house consumes more than an empty one, and porous substrates absorb more than sealed ones. Quote with a contingency rather than to the gallon.
Droplet size
This is the setting that separates a good fogging result from a mediocre one.
Too fine and droplets stay suspended, drift on air currents and get pulled into returns rather than settling on the surfaces you are treating. You use product and treat the air.
Too coarse and it behaves like a sprayer — wetting near surfaces heavily, reaching nothing at distance, and running on vertical faces.

Setups per room
Fewer setups is faster and produces more even coverage. Two things help.
Throw. A fogger reaching 30 feet in multiple directions covers most residential rooms from one placement.
Rotation. A rotating turntable and stand at 2 RPM turns one placement into 360-degree distribution and lets the crew leave the room while it runs. On contents-heavy jobs this is the difference between one setup and four, and it is usually where the equipment pays for itself.

Sequence on site
- Removal work complete and containment still up.
- HEPA vacuum first. Fogging over loose debris wastes product and fixes material in place.
- Close returns and shut the HVAC down unless you are deliberately fogging the ducts. Otherwise the system pulls your fog straight out of the room.
- Work from the far end toward the exit. Obvious, and still done backwards regularly.
- Treat contents as well as surfaces. This is what fogging is for — the tops of cabinets, the backs of furniture, inside soft goods.
- Allow dwell and drying time before the space is disturbed.
- HVAC separately, with a coil and duct product.
Electrostatic sprayers
The alternative for hard surfaces. Charged droplets adhere better to vertical faces and wrap around objects, which gives better coverage per surface at slower area coverage. Most crews running volume end up with both: a fogger for whole-room and contents, a sprayer for detailed hard-surface work.
Buying in bulk
